New Adventures for all at Tamborine |
Date Added: 18/05/2008 |
QCCC’s three campsites on Tamborine Mountain can now offer guests the opportunity to experience one of the largest high ropes courses in Australia. Adventure Parc, a fun park featuring four challenging courses several metres up in the air, opened on Tamborine Mountain last year. Through a friendship developed with QCCC, our guests will now be able to book a fun day at the park at a competetive rate.
Adrien Leclere, the park’s Managing Director, helped develop Adventure Parc in Australia after working at the original park in France for two years.
"The main benefit of coming to Adventure Parc is to get people out of their comfort zone," he says, "It’s a great challenge, not just physically, but mentally as well. A lot of people who do the course have told me beforehand that they’re afraid of heights. They come back very tired but with a big smile saying, ‘Wow! That was incredible! I didn’t think I was capable of something like that!’."
Adventure Parc’s courses come in varying degrees of difficulty at heights of up to 18 metres above the ground. There are some height restrictions – people who participate must be able to reach at least 1.6 metres in the air with both arms raised. Safety is paramount at the site, with all participants viewing a safety DVD and spotters positioned throughout the course to ensure that everyone’s experience is a safe one. Risk assessment is in place and the structure is certified by the Office of Independent Engineers in France who designed the course.
It’s a great experience for young and old, individuals and groups, Adrien says. "No matter if you’re a child, a teenager or an experienced adult you will be challenged. It is something that will get people motivated and will get them tired! Families who come through our doors come back very happy because it’s something that they were able to accomplish together."
Nor is it just an adventure for the young.
"I had a lady who was 72 years old do the course. She did our easy course. It normally takes about half an hour to go through that, but it took her an hour and a half. It was a lot of work for her, but when she’d managed to go through the whole thing, she was surprised. She was so happy to have accomplished something like that. She thought it was totally out of her reach."
"Recently a grandmother came with her daughter and granddaughter and all three ladies went on the course. When she’d finished the course the grandmother told us she was 65 and she did the whole course, all three levels – easy, moderate and hard."
Everyone begins on the easiest course so they can warm up and to make sure that they understand the safety requirements. Once that is completed, they have the choice of trying the other courses. There are also various positions on each course that allow people to come down if they feel they can go no further. And, of course, the park’s staff are always on hand with advice and a helping hand.
